Association Hosts Successful “Spring
Swing” Event with First Lady of New Jersey

he Indian American Wom-
en Entrepreneurs Association
T(IAWEA) hosted their annual
“Spring Swing” event on May 3, 2023,
at the Moghul Ballroom in Edison, NJ.
The event was a huge success, with over
200 attendees, including the First Lady
of New Jersey, Tammy Snyder Murphy.
Mrs. Murphy was welcomed with
open arms by the IAWEA community
and gave a passionate speech about the
importance of women’s entrepreneur-
ship. She emphasized that she has been
working with NJ State’s economic de-
velopment authority to provide access
to capital for women entrepreneurs in
their administration. Additionally, she
mentioned that women-owned busi-
nesses in the IT sector had 30 percent
more profit than men-owned business-
es, according to recent studies.
Dr. Shukla, President and Found-
er of IAWEA, also gave a heartfelt
speech, thanking the First Lady for her
presence and support. She highlight-
ed that the organization had grown
from 10 to 265 members in just four
years despite the COVID-19 pan-
demic. Dr. Shukla stressed the im-
portance of providing resources and
networking opportunities to women
entrepreneurs to grow their businesses.
The event also featured an educa-
tion component with a panel discussion
on Entrepreneurship and Real Estate.
Charan Bajwa, ReMax Broker, hosted
the panel discussion with Mr. Kumar
Trivedi, C.P.A., and Mr. Shankar Thay-
ver from Thayver Group as the panelists.
Dr. Shukla emphasized that
IAWEA is committed to supporting
women’s entrepreneurship and has
provided free training to its members
in Excel and Quickbooks training for
Entrepreneurs. She also stressed the
need for women entrepreneurs to work
on improving their skills in the digital
space.
IAWEA’s “Spring Swing” was a
huge success, and the organization is
looking forward to hosting more events
to support women’s entrepreneurship
in the Indian American community.
