              outh Asian American immigrants
come here to pursue the American
        Seconomic dream, and because they
want to raise their children in a society based
on science, the rule of law and meritocratic
principles. These dreams are under threat
in the Newsom recall election in California,
a power play by the Republican minority to
overrule the majority in an off-year election at
a cost of $270 million to California taxpayers.
            Newsom shares South Asian American
values on issues like pandemic manage-
ment, climate change, voting rights, high
        technology, immigration, the economy and
gun control. The US Senate is at stake: if
Senator Feinstein is unable to continue, a
Republican governor would appoint a Re-
publican Senator, flipping the US Senate to
        Mitch McConnell.
            Governor Newsom listened to scientists
and made difficult, life-saving decisions, our most recent Democratic governors. by voting “No” on the Recall. To prevent
We need serious, competent people in
someone with a tiny percentage of votes re-
during an unprecedented global pandemic. charge, who listen to experts, and make placing Newsom, every eligible voter needs
This cost him politically, but kept California difficult decisions to save lives and the en- to vote. Republicans will turn out in force
hospital bed capacity below failure levels.
As a front-line physician, I appreciate all vironment of a forward-looking state like to vote for the Recall. It’s important that we
that he has done to promote easily available California. NOT Trumplicans who will take stop them!

        catastrophic numbers in Republican states
        like Florida or Texas.
            Newsom left discretionary power about
school and work reopening rules to local
authorities, unlike many red state gover-
nors who chose to make school reopening
unsafe by blindly opposing mask and vac-
cine mandates. He supported small busi-
        nesses and extended unemployment bene-
fits to keep the economy going.
Newsom proposed bold ideas to ad-
        dress homelessness and housing shortag-
es in California. During the pandemic, he
creatively bought out hotels with large va-
cancies to house homeless people and pre-
vent COVID outbreaks in crowded shelters.
Governor Newsom is sincere about taking
on climate change while creating new jobs
that will boost our economy. Our worst
        deficits occurred under Republican gover-
        nors while record surpluses accompanied
