Holi Celebration takes Center Stage at South
Street Seaport Museum with The Culture Tree
OUR BUREAU
New York, NY
outh Street Seaport Museum celebrated
Holi at the Seaport Museum on Saturday,
SMarch 15, 2025, from 11am to 5pm. Immers-
ing in the vibrant spirit of Holi at the South Street
Seaport, the Indian American community and
many more visitors celebrated the festival of joy.
The Culture Tree, over the March 15 weekend,
celebrated Holi at several iconic NYC locations.
Through our events and efforts Holi is now rapidly
become a mainstream celebration in America.
Holi at Seaport is The Culture Tree’s largest
event of the year and has now become one of the
largest Holi events on the East coast with almost
15,000 tickets sold and a vibrant cultural celebration
that included music, colors, dance, literature, food
and Indian brands and small businesses. Our event
this year is the most widely covered and celebrated
event in New York.
The action-packed day included the Holi Liter-
ary Festival and a Collaborative Mural at the Seaport
Museum, along with exciting activities at Pier 17 and
Seaport Square presented in collaboration with The
Culture Tree and the Seaport. The visitors enjoyed
thrilling dance and drum performances, a comedy
show, opportunities to explore the flavors of Holi,
and, of course, the iconic throwing of colorful pig-
ments––the quintessential part of Holi.
The highlights of the celebration included:
• Receiving a proclamation from Governor Kathy
Hochul for the work The Culture Tree is doing
to elevate the cultural fabric of New York State
• Consul General Pradhan’s keynote address on
Holi
• Council Member Shekhar Krishnan’s heart-
warming address on the essence of this inclusive
festival
• Receiving a proclamation from Assemblywom-
an Jennifer Rajkumar on the work The Culture
Tree has been doing to celebrate Indian culture
in America
Most of all, it was extremely heartwarming to
see everyone play Holi together and celebrate the
key essence of the festival: togetherness, love and
kindness.
Many thanks to our two partners, the Seaport
and Seaport Museum, they have hosted this event
with The Culture Tree for the past 5 years. The Cul-
ture Tree wants to specially thank Consul General
Pradhan for constantly supporting our initiatives and
helping us bring this event to fruition.
The Culture Tree provides South Asian themed
educational and cultural programs that enrich the
lives of children and their families and promotes a
deeper connection with their roots and the world
around them. We use language, art, puppet shows,
dance, food and the holidays to provide an immer-
sive experience.
