            India is home to one of the
        highest  rates  of  female  infanti-
        cide  incidents  in  the  world.  In
        a recent global study on female
        infanticide  ,  it  has  been  deter-
        mined  that  at  least  50  million
        girls have gone “missing” due to
        sex-selective  abortions.  Thou-
        sands  of  baby  girls  are  aban-
        doned  each  year,  with  very
        few that are able to be rescued,
        which is caused by an extension
        of sex selection practices.

        like  infanticide,  feticide,  baby
        killings to the world. They have
