light up screens at Times Square

to the movie THE KASHMIR
FILES on the 73rd Repub-
lic Day of India at the world’s most
important venue. Times Square in
New York was lit with the poster of
the most talked about film in recent
times. Made by Vivek Agnihotri,
the film recently completed a histor-
ic pre-release road show in 15 cities
across the US.

of global Kashmiri Pandit dias-
pora and sunil Hali with support
from hundreds of volunteers,
the film presents the genocide
of 1990 when about half a
million Kashmiri Pandits were
thrown out of their motherland.
The film is due to release soon
all over the world. It is produced by
ZEE STUDIOS and IAMBUDH-
HA Films, with exceptional perfor-
mances by Anupam Kher, Mithun
Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi among
others who have lived their charac-
ters. Written and directed by Vivek
Agnihotri, the film also Darshan Ku-
maar and Chinmay Mandlekar.
The road show, which includ-
ed talks with policymakers, students
and theatrical screening was fund-
ed through charitable support from
NRIs including Mohan Warikoo, Ra-
jeev Kaul, Dr Nirmal Mattoo, Anil
Mattoo among others. It was a full-
house in every city.
