Feeding for Homeless and Needy in Manhattan
OUR BUREAU
New York, NY
OPIO-Manhattan has been doing a com-
munity feeding on the last Monday of every
Gmonth in cooperation with Interfaith Ser-
vices serving a vegetarian lunch at the Tompkins
Square Park in Manhattan (New York City).
Generally, more than 60 homeless and needy
turn up for a nutritious vegetarian lunch. Indi-
vidual community members sponsor this lunch.
The program was started in December 2020 by
GOPIO-Manhattan with GOPIO Chairman Dr.
Thomas Abraham as the first sponsor. Last month
feeding was sponsored by GOPIO-Manhattan
Secretary Bhavya Gupta. With that GOPIO-Man-
hattan completes three years of serving the food
for homeless and needy in Manhattan.
GOPIO-Manhattan invites sponsors for 2024
schedules. One may sponsor it for loved one’s
birthday or death anniversary or otherwise. The
food is prepared by volunteers of Interfaith Ser-
vices in a nearby kitchen. Sponsors are welcome to
come and serve the food, but not necessary.
