When Deepti Sharma was growing up in Flushing, her parents instilled in her the importance
of helping others. She saw firsthand how many of her neighbors and family members
struggled. That’s why she founded a business, FoodToEat, which supports small, local
restaurants. Deepti’s business connects these minority-, woman-, and immigrant-owned
restaurants and food trucks with large-scale catering contracts and updated technology.
When COVID-19 hit, she refocused her business on raising money for our restaurants to feed
frontline workers and food-insecure communities. She has also helped secure food donations
