India administers over 240
million doses so far
ndia has administered more than 24 crore (240 million)
COVID-19 vaccine doses till Wednesday, informed the Minis-
Itry of Health and Family Welfare.
The country has administered cumulatively more than 24 crore
(24,24,79,167) vaccine doses as per the 7 pm provision report on
Wednesday. 19,24,924 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years
received their first dose and 86,450 beneficiaries of the same age
group received their second dose of COVID vaccine today.
Cumulatively, 3,38,08,845 persons across 37 States/UTs have Faculty’ category of the QS World University Rankings 2022 (ANI)
received their first dose and a total of 4,05,114 have received their
second dose since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive. Bi-
har, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Ma-
harashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and
West Bengal have administered more than 10 lakh beneficiaries of
the age group 18-44 years for the first dose of COVID vaccine.
The total of 24,24,79,167 beneficiaries include 1,00,12,624
Healthcare Workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and
69,11,311 HCWs who have taken the second dose.
Adding up to the list, 1,64,71,228 Frontline Workers (FLWs)
were administered their first dose and 87,51,277 FLWs were ad-
ministered their second dose.
As many as 3,38,08,845 persons for 18-44 years of age group
took the first jab and 4,05,114 persons for 18-44 years of age group
took the second jab.
Also, 7,33,23,267 beneficiaries between 45 years to 60 years old
were innoculated their first dose of vaccine and 1,16,22,718 benefi-
ciaries between 45 years to 60 years old were innoculated with the
second dose of vaccine.
Further, 6,16,38,580 persons above 60 years took the first jab and
1,95,34,203 persons above 60 years took the second jab of vaccine.

ing as a ‘Vishvaguru’ or world leader. London-based QS released
its annual World University Rankings 2022 on June 8, according
to which The Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, is the world’s
top research university as per the ‘research citations per faculty’
while the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, is ranked 41st
globally in the category.
As per the 18th edition of the “world’s most-consulted inter-
national university rankings”, India Institute of Technology (IIT),
Bombay, is ranked 177th best overall is India’s top ranked insti-
tution for the fourth consecutive year. Meanwhile, IIT Delhi, the
second best institute in India, has risen from 193rd position last
year to 185th position this year in the global ranking.
“Today, I’m extremely proud to share that India is taking a leap
in the field of education and research and is emerging as a VISH-

IIT Guwahati ranks 41 globally in the ‘Research Citations per
VAGURU,” Pokhriyal Tweeted.
He called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘Guru’ (teacher)
who has “constantly been thinking about the welfare of our stu-
dents, faculty and all other stakeholders associated with the Indian
education sector.”
“Initiatives such as NEP (National Education Policy) 2020 and
IOE (Institute of Education) are instrumental in ranking our col-
leges and institutes globally. This can be felt by looking at the uni-
versity rankings declared by QS and Times Group,” the Education
Minister added.

Court dismisses plea for high
protein diet
elhi’s Rohini Court on Wednesday dismissed wrestler Su-
shil Kumar’s petition seeking a high protein diet and spe-
Dcial supplements in prison. Kumar is currently in judicial
custody as the prime accused in the Sagar Dhankar murder case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satvir Singh Lamba in the or-
der said the alleged special foods and supplements appear to be
“any manner the essential need or necessity” for him.
“Hence, the prayer of the accused/applicant in the present ap-
plication is not maintainable. Accordingly, the present application
is hereby dismissed,” the order said.
Advocate Pradeep Rana, appearing for Kumar, while arguing
for the application said, “The future carrier of accused/applicant
in wrestling directly depends on his physical strength and phy-
sique, without which he cannot sustain and sought permission to
allow special foods and supplements to the accused, which contain
protein, Omega-3 capsules, jointment capsules, Pre-workout C4,
Hyde, Multivitamin GNC, Exercises Bands among other things.”
Earlier, the court had remanded Kumar to judicial custody and
rejected the Delhi Police plea seeking extension of his Police custo-
dy in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl matter leading
to the death of 23-year-old wrestler Sagar Dhankar.
The 38-year-old wrestler, Kumar, a prime suspect in the murder
case and his associate Ajay Bakkarwala were arrested by a team of
Special Cell, Delhi Police on Sunday in the Mundka area of the
national capital. A non-bailable warrant was issued against Kumar
and others in the case.
